Godzilla 2014 Blu-ray to Stomp into Retail Sept. 16

August 5, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

The King of the Monsters made his return to the big screen earlier this year, and he’ll be stomping his way into (not onto) homes this fall. Warner Bros. has announced the Godzilla 2014 Blu-ray release date as Sept. 16, when it’ll arrive in stores in several different flavors. The primary versions are a Godzilla Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, a standard Blu-ray Combo Pack and a two-Disc DVD Special Edition.

An additional MetalPak version will also be available.

Normally the 3D Combo Pack would retail for $44.95, but Amazon.com is running a crazy special at this moment whereby the Godzilla Blu-ray 3D pack pre-orders cost just $29.99. Since that pack includes every other version, including Ultraviolet, you may as well get that one and save money in the process.

The Godzilla 2014 Blu-ray sets all contain the same special features. There are technically only two special features included, though they’re both pretty beefy:

  • MONARCH: Declassified – Discover explosive new evidence not contained in the film that unravels the massive cover-up to keep Godzilla’s existence a secret. This special feature includes three parts: Operation: Lucky Dragon; MONARCH: The M.U.T.O. File; and The Godzilla Revelation.
  • The Legendary Godzilla – Go behind the scenes with filmmakers and cast for an even deeper look at the larger than life monsters in the film. All told there are four behind-the-scenes parts of this special feature: Godzilla: Force of Nature; A Whole New Level Of Destruction; Into The Void: The H.A.L.O. Jump; and Ancient Enemy: The M.U.T.O.s.

In addition to the standard Godzilla 2014 Blu-ray sets, Warner Bros. also took the wraps off a Limited Edition Godzilla MetalPak. This set includes exclusive embossed artwork, the Blu-ray Combo pack and Godzilla’s iconic roar. The MetalPak will release the same day as the other versions.
