Fresh off the news that The Happening will release on Blu-ray on October 7, Fox/MGM also announced that two classic horror films will make their Blu-ray debut on the same day: Carries and The Amityville Horror.
Carrie, which is based on Stephen King’s first published novel and first hit the big screen in 1976, follows a teenage outcast who, upon learning she has telekinesis, seeks revenge on her high-school classmates and wreaks havoc during prom. The Amityville Horror, meanwhile, which released in 1979, follows a couple who discovers their new Long Island dream home is possessed by demonic spirits — and that they desperately need to escape the satanic forces.
For their Blu-ray releases, both films will receive the requisite high-definition treatment. Carrie will be presented on a 25GB Blu-ray disc in 1.85:1 aspect ratio with English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio. The Amityville Horror will also be presented on a 25GB disc in 1.85:1 aspect ratio, and it will feature English 5.1 Dolby Surround Audio plus English, Spanish and French subtitles.
Unfortunately, no information was released about either film’s bonus features, but neither one is likely to get too many.
