Ball’s return for the Broncos could be key for Denver, as the Broncos will need to establish a ground game to keep the St. Louis defense honest. Though the Rams have just a 3-6 record headed into today’s Broncos game live, they have 16 sacks in the past three weeks, including eight in a 13-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers and three in last Sunday’s 31-14 loss to the Cardinals.
If Ball returns well to the offense and C.J. Anderson can build on his 163-yard performance from last week, the Broncos will be well on their way to keeping the Rams defense guessing and giving Manning more time to find the open receiver. Last week Manning completed 31 of 44 passes for 340 yards and five TDs against the Raiders, whose pass defense is about equal to that of the Rams.
