A new Castlevania will appear this fall, Konami announced today, but not on the PS3 or Xbox 360. Instead, the all-new Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia will be a Nintendo DS-exclusive.
While unveiling the new Castlevania game, Konami said the game itself will introduce a new Glyph attack system, which will let players use more than 100 attack combinations as they attempt to defeat Dracula and his evil horde. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia will also introduce outdoor locales ranging from forests to the ocean, giving players their first chance in the revered franchise to explore outside Dracula’s Castle.
In Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, players will assume the role of a member of the Ecclesia, an organization that has sworn to defeat the evil forces of Dracula. Aside from playing through the game’s 20-plus levels on a single-player basis, gamers will also be able to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to compete head-to-head or trade items and equipment they have found.
The game will also include multiple endings that depend on how players complete the story.
