The most impressive Assassin’s Creed game to date is just under a month away, but for those who are looking beyond AC 4: Black Flag, Ubisoft today announced that the Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD release date will be timed to provide some mid-winter fun. Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD is scheduled to arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in early 2014.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, which tells a tale set in the pre–American Revolution saga, will arrive first on PS3. The game will be available as a digital title on PlayStation Network on January 14, followed the next day (Jan. 15) on Windows PC. Interestingly, the Xbox 360 version hasn’t gotten a release date, just an “early 2014” label.
Could this mean Sony has a console-based timed-exclusive in the works with Ubisoft? Or, could it mean a future announcement is on the horizon about an Xbox One version also in the works? It’s entirely possible, as Ubisoft didn’t mention the Xbox 360 by name. Instead, the announcement simply gave an Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD release date “on Xbox Live online entertainment network from Microsoft” without specifying whether it was for a current- or next-gen console.
