Atari today announced it will bring the next chapter in the flight-combat “Heroes” franchise to next-gen consoles and PC in 2009. Called Heroes over Europe, the game will be an “ultra-realistic, seat-of-the-pants” tactical flight combat game.
The sequel to Heroes of the Pacific, Heroes over Europe will take players into major World War II European air battles for some high-definition dogfights. The plot will follow the Allied campaign from the attacks on London to the destruction of Berlin, with players strapping themselves into authentically rendered cockpits of the campaign’s iconic aircraft.
Heroes Over Europe is powered by a new engine and will also include new game modes, as well as online multiplayer support for up to 16 players. Additional content will also be available upon the game’s launch, although Atari did not announce whether it would be free to download or require some sort of payment.
