We know know the identity of a new Batman Arkham Origins character, one of the villains featured in the game. Warner Bros. Interactive revealed Copperhead during a Comic-Con panel for Batman: Arkham Origins that included Creative Director Eric Holmes, Game Director Mark Pacini, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and actors Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker (the voices of Batman and The Joker, respectively).
Copperhead is one of the eight assassins featured in Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel of sorts in that it’s set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. The game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original storyline that takes place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals.
Although WB Interactive isn’t yet saying exactly how, we do know that the new Batman Arkham Origins character will play a role in a story that follows a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter. What exactly that defining moment is has yet to be revealed — and it likely won’t be until gamers play the game — but WB Interactive says it “sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight.”
As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time, including Copperhead and presumably The Joker, and they will forge key relationships that play out through the Batman: Arkham Origins story and the previous games that were set in the future.
Batman: Arkham Origins will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and Windows PC. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, the handheld version, will be available for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. All versions will release on worldwide on Oct. 25 this year.
