Blitz: The League II began shipping to retail today for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The football game goes against everything Madden holds dear, namely rules, ethics and the stance that late hits should be penalized. In Blitz: The League, late hits are not only possible, but encouraged.
Blitz: The League II includes new tackles, gruesome injuries and touchdown celebrations, but the most noteworthy element is the franchise’s trademark late hits.
Although the violence is celebrated, there is a story in the game. Quentin Sands, the baddest man in the league, headlines the story, which was penned by Peter Egan, of ESPN’s Playmakers fame.
Lawrence Taylor returns to play the role of Quentin Sands, while comedians Frank Caliendo and Jay Mohr provide the voices for the color commentator and prison warden, and the game’s agent, respectively.
