Crysis 2 Coming to Xbox 360, PS3?

January 30, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

Crysis 2 may be headed to the Xbox 360 and PS3 after all, if the company’s plans for GDC 08 are any indication.

Crytek, the developer of both Crysis games and the first Far Cry, will once again demonstrate its CryENGINE 2 middleware at this year’s Game Developers Conference — but this year the middleware will be up and running on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This marks the first time CryENGINE 2 will have been shown on any platform other than PC.

Crysis 2, which EA released for Windows Vista last fall, required a powerhouse PC to run but looked gorgeous for those whose PCs were strong enough to run it.

Having Crysis 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3 — if the game does, indeed, come to those consoles via the console version of its middleware — would make the game accessible to millions of gamers who hadn’t previously played it.
