Dead Space to Ship on Halloween for PS3, Xbox 360

February 26, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

Electronic Arts today announced the official release date for Dead Space, its survival horror first-person shooter for Xbox 360 and PS3. The release date? Halloween, of course.

Set in the far future, Dead Space explores a universe in which Earth’s appetite for natural resources has become a major motivator for deep-space exploration. Huge, privately owned mining ships called “planetcrackers” orbit planets, using sophisticated equipment to carve out entire city-sized chunks of rock, reducing them to component elements and raw ore.

When communications go dead onboard the USG Ishimura, systems engineer Isaac Clarke is sent in to fix the problem. Once onboard the vessel, Isaac discovers that the crew has unearthed an ancient and malevolent alien presence far beneath the planet’s surface and brought it onboard.

Sounds an awful lot like a hybrid of DOOM and Aliens, doesn’t it?

Weaponless, alone and terrified, this lone engineer is burdened with not only surviving, but sealing the alien horror back into the dark rock.

Although Dead Space sounds somewhat cliched, we’re still looking forward to it here at DailyGame. When we get our hands on it for the first time, we’ll definitely let you know our impressions.
