You know that whole song and dance about superheroes fighting evil? Well, Electronic Arts is taking that phrase quite literally, as the company has just been granted the Marvel license — and has assigned its EA Chicago studio to work on it. EA Chicago is best known as the studio behind the Fight Night boxing games.
Interestingly enough, it sounds like EA Chicago is going to borrow heavily from that experience when developing this new Marvel-licensed game.
“We looked at past comic-based games to find out what was missing and what was needed to successfully translate the intensity, excitement and fiction from comics into fighting games,” said Kudo Tsunoda, General Manager and Vice President of EA Chicago. “We’re challenging ourselves to make a game that delivers on the Super Hero promises of past top-tier fighting games.”
EA’s Marvel game will feature a complete line-up of Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains. Other than that, all EA was willing to divulge about the game is that it will have “huge environments and a living world that keeps the gameplay fresh, every battle … unique.”
