Falling Skies The Game Drops into Retail for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U

October 2, 2014 by Sara

The video game based on the popular TNT sci-fi drama Falling Skies is now available at retail for Xbox 360 and PS3, with a digital version available for download on Wii U. Falling Skies The Game is a turn-based, tactical role-playing game set between the TV show’s third and fourth seasons.

So, while the TV show is action oriented, be aware that Falling Skies The Game is more slowly paced.

Considering its timing in the show’s narrative, Falling Skies The Game picks up after the destruction of the Espheni’s Boston Tower in the third season. The 2nd Mass has stumbled onto the wreckage of an ambushed convoy, finding an engineer among the survivors who says he can create a destructive weapon that will aid in the human resistance against the Espheni invaders.

Doing so will require them to undertake several risky operations to collect all the components he needs. Those operations are where the bulk of the gameplay takes place.

Players will help the original cast of Falling Skies in their resistance against the Espheni invaders by navigating an open-ended series of side missions to collect resources and build new weapons for their squad. Players will assist Tom and Ben Mason, John Pope, Maggie and Anthony along the way, really helping to fill-in some blanks in the series’ narrative.

The squad-based tactical combat takes place in a completely non-linear campaign. This lets players take different approaches to achieve mission objectives.

Maps are completely randomized, and the enemies have dynamic AI that adapts to players’ actions in every mission. Progress against those enemies will lead to increased XP and the ability to level-up and customize squad members’ skills, weapons and equipment.

Falling Skies The Game carries a $39.99 MSRP whether you grab it digitally or via retail disc.
