The Hitman series is making a comeback, with Hitman Absolution currently in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms. Along with the game announcement, IO Interactive and Square Enix revealed the Hitman Absolution launch trailer, which you can see below. Hitman Absolution is scheduled to release in 2012.
Hitman Absolution follows the assassin Agent 47 as he takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he once trusted, and now hunted by the police, he suddenly finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world. Sounds a lot like the recent escapades of Sam Fisher, no?
Hitman Absolution will use IO Interactive’s proprietary new “Glacier 2” technology and promises “a cinematic story, distinctive art direction and highly original game design.” This original game design will combine the much-loved classic gameplay with completely new features never seen before in the Hitman franchise.
“For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy,” said Tore Blystad, game director of IO Interactive. “This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games; something our silent assassins will relish, as will all those new to the Hitman world.”
Hitman Absolution will be on display by invitation only at E3. We’ll do our best to get our hands on it and share the info. Until then, check out the Hitman Absolution launch trailer below.
