DailyGame confirmed today the specifics of what will be included in Konami’s Limited Edition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Metal Gear Solid 4 will ship for the PlayStation 3 in North America on June 12, but the Limited Edition will be available exclusively at GameStop.
We have also confirmed the pricing for both the Limited Edition and Standard Edition of Metal Gear Solid 4. But first, the Limited Edition details:
The MGS4 Limited Edition will include collectible packaging with exclusive artwork by famed Kojima Productions illustrator Yoji Shinkawa. The Limited Edition will contain everything from the Standard Edition (see below), as well as an additional Blu-ray Disc featuring two “making of” documentaries. These documentaries will include extensive interviews with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. The packaging will also include the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Soundtrack CD.
The cost for all this LE goodness? $84.99 USD. Again, though, you’ll have to go to GameStop to get the Limited Edition version.
Now, as for the Standard Edition, the package will include the core PlayStation 3 game (of course), as well as the Metal Gear Online “Starter Pack,” which is the full and complete multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
This Standard version will ship for the expected price of $59.99.
For those who want to pre-order the Standard version and don’t care about pre-order extras, we recommend doing so at Amazon (click here) for the best deal. However, if you want the extras outlined below, you can pre-order the game at participating “brick and mortar” game retailers.
The pre-order program for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots gives customers who pre-order either edition a copy of the Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 DVD (while supplies last). This DVD features extensive original video content focused primarily on the interconnected history between all of the “Snakes”: Big Boss (Naked Snake), Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake and Solid Snake. The DVD also contains a compendium of the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots trailers.
Additionally, each DVD allocated during this pre-order period will contain a unique voucher code that will enable the consumer to download the Metal Gear Online Beta. The download of the Beta will be available from April 17 to May 5, and the gameplay will be available from April 21 to May 5.
