Need for Speed Undercover Online Modes: First Details

October 8, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

The first details about the Need for Speed Undercover online modes surfaced today, with EA unveiling a new multiplayer mode claled Cops and Robbers. In Cops and Robbers, players will participate in team-based matches in which two teams of four players race against one another in a racing “battle royale.”

Need for Speed Undercover will ship for PS3 and Xbox 360 on Nov. 18 (in North America) and on Nov. 21 (in Europe).

In the new Cops and Robbers mode, robbers must pick up a package and take it to the drop-off point, while the cops attempt to prevent the delivery. Each game consists of two rounds, thus letting gamers play as both the cops and the robbers.

In addition to the Cops and Robbers mode in Need for Speed Undercover, up to eight players will be able to prove their driving prowess in Sprint and Circuit multiplayer race modes. These latter two will only be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 (Wii, PSP, DS, PS2 and PC versions of the game are also in the works).

EA also announced today that Need for Speed Undercover will include a diverse soundtrack comprised of more than 30 songs. The artists will range from The Prodigy and Tricky to Justice.

Need for Speed Undercover marks the return of high-intensity police chases (thank the gaming gods) and introduces a new graphics engine that EA is calling the “Heroic Driving Engine.”
