Tetris was one of the first games to which I really developed an addiction, so hearing about a revamped version of Tetris coming to PS3 via the PlayStation Network is interesting. Even more interesting, though, was EA Mobile’s announcement that Tetris for the PS3 will have three PS3-exclusive multiplayer modes.
The specific names and mechanics of these three PS3-exclusive multiplayer modes are still under wraps, but the video below shows the upcoming game in action. In chatting with the PS Blog, the team at EA Mobile also shared that this PSN version of Tetris will have 5.1 Dolby surround sound and 1080p graphics in addition to the PS3-only modes — as well as six online and local multiplayer modes that will be available on all platforms.
As in the original addicting game, Tetris will also be fully playable alone in the Marathon Mode, but it’s the new online, real-time multiplayer modes that increase the chances of thousands of Tetris players either rediscovering their addiction or developing one if they’re new to the franchise.
