With the news of LittleBigPlanet being delayed worldwide at the last minute, Sony needed a nice PR pick-me-up. Today, that came in the form of the confirmation that Resistance 2 will support split-screen play for two players in both the game’s co-op online and competitive online modes.
It’s been well established that Resistance 2 will have eight-player online co-op, so today’s announcement that the shooter will have online split-screen co-op is not only hot news, but incredibly satisfying for all those who like to blast aliens with a friend on the same sofa. The split-screen online competitive news is also quite tasty.
The public beta is now underway, and development of Resistance 2 is wrapping up, so it’s safe to say this announcement was made rather late. However, in light of the LittleBigPlanet news, the announcement is also very well timed.
