Rock Band Gets Tunes from Staind, Scars on Broadway and The New No2

July 25, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

MTV Games announced this afternoon that Rock Band 2 gamers on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will get three new singles next week, following the recent slate of new music released during and immediately after E3 2008.

The new songs will debut on July 29, and as is the case with all Rock Band downloadable content, they will be compatible with Rock Band 2 when it releases later this year. Three of the singles are recent releases, while the fourth comes at you from the way-back machine.

The first of the three “new” tracks will be a single from Scars on Broadway, a band that consists of System of a Down members Daron Malakian (vocals/guitar) and John Dolmayan (drums), in addition to Franky Perez (guitar/backing vocals), Danny Shamoun (keyboards/percussion), and Dominic Cifarelli (bass). Their first single, “They Say,” is a Rock Band-exclusive and will be available for $1.99 on PS3 and 160 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

The second new track will be Staind’s “This Is It,” the first single from their forthcoming album The Illusion of Progress. “This is It” will be available for $1.99 on PS3, or for 160 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360. The third new-music debut will come from The New No2, which will release “Yomp” from their debut album You Are Here. The New No2 is comprised of Dhani Harrison — the only son of legendary Beatle George Harrison — and Oli Hecks. Yomp” will be available for $.99 (or 80 Microsoft Points).

Finally, the band Testament will dig into its archive to release “Electric Crown,” a song from the band’s 1992 album The Ritual. “Electric Clown” will be available for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points).
