Ubisoft has confirmed the Child of Light release date will be April 30, 2014. The turn-based RPG will release for six different platforms that day: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii U and PC. Child of Light is a downloadable game and will cost $14.99 on all platforms.
Child of Light has been developed by a small team at Ubisoft Montreal using Ubisoft’s UbiArt Framework. The Framework is “a powerful engine that lets programmers and artists bring their art to life by allowing original concept art to be inserted unedited into the game world.”
In other words, when the Child of Light release date hits, gamers will feel as if they’re playing on an interactive painting.
Child of Light is billed as “a reimagining of classic fairytales.” The game takes place in the magical painted world of Lemuria, where players will uncover mysteries, participate in JRPG-inspired turn-by-turn combat and explore a mystical kingdom.
Players take on the role of Aurora, a child stolen from her home. In her quest to return, she must bring back the sun, moon and stars that have been held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night. Helped by her companion Igniculus the firefly, plus several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears. Among those fears and adversaries are dragons and other mystical creatures.
