Activision is returning to the monster truck gaming scene, announcing today it will bring Monster Jam: Urban Assault to the Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP (PlayStation Portable) and Nintendo DS this fall. Activision published the simply-named Monster Jam in 2007.
Monster Jam: Urban Assault will take Monster Jam monster trucks onto the streets and other urban settings, with players rewarded for the scale of the damage and destruction they wreak. Players will be able to virtually drive famous monster trucks including Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Monster Mutt, El Toro Loco, Captain’s Curse and Blue Thunder.
If none of those tickle players’ fancy, there will also be the option to race/smash as some of the Monster Jam’s “rising stars” such as Stone Crusher, Backwards Bob and Spitfire Monster Truck. The goal: demolish every vehicle in sight.
For purists, Monster Jam: Urban Assault will still offer stadium racing and stadium freestyle competitions with gameplay much improved over the original game. Mini games have also been added, including ones brand new to the franchise like Monster Jump, Truck Trickster, Skee Ball and Air Strike.
