The next chapter in the storied Pitfall franchise will be a Wii exclusive, Activision announced today. Called Pitfall: The Big Adventure, the adventure game will ship this fall exclusively for Nintendo’s platform.
The Nintendo Wii should be a logical fit for the Pitfall series, as players will be able to use the Wii Remote to swing on a vine over crocodiles. The graphical “limitations” of the Wii also shouldn’t be an issue, as Activision and developer Edge of Reality are planning to make Pitfall Harry have a “retro-cool” vibe.
Pitfall: The Big Adventure will, like the other 10 games in the series, be set in a jungle and combine reptile dodging, vine swinging and puzzles. The game’s Peruvian setting will include more than 60 levels that span rainforests, caves and glacial mountains, while the enemies will range from shamen to run-of-the-mill creatures.
All of those gameplay mechanics will use the Wii Remote’s motion-sensing technology, of course.
Pitfall: The Big Adventure will ship this fall for the Wii. The previous installment appeared on the original Xbox.
