Nintendo is uploading two WiiWare and one Virtual Console game this morning, and although the WiiWare content generally takes center stage, today’s Virtual Console upload — Space Harrier — will likely be tops on many older gamers’ lists.
Space Harrier (500 Wii Points) first appeared in arcades in the 1980s, followed by a home release on the Sega Master System. Developed by AM2 (they did OutRun and Afterburner), Space Harrier has a colorful art design and fast-paced action that’s instantly recognizable to gamers 30 years old or older. This Wii version includes all 18 levels in The Land of Dragons.
As for the WiiWare games on today’s docket, Nintendo is uploading Hudson’s “Alien Crush Returns” (800 Wii Points), a new version of the TurboGrafx pinball game that lets players nudge the machine with the Wii Remote or play with four players online via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and “Home Sweet Home” (1,000 Wii Points), a new game in which players can “unleash their hidden talents as an interior designer.”
Yep, that’s another reason we’re most excited about Space Harrier….
