Battlefield 3 Sells 5 Million Units in First Week

November 1, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

EA LogoWe knew you all liked your Battlefield, but Battlefield 3 selling 5 million units in its first week? That’s some serious FPS lovin’ right there. For all the pretentious pleas that gamers make to support indie developers and make the Big Publishers fight for every last dime, EA’s had the last laugh today, announcing that Battlefield 3’s global sales milestone made it the fastest-selling game in EA’s history.

Naturally, Battlefield 3 pushed a ton of people online — EA reported its highest-ever usage rates — and EA said its server stability was solid in the first weekend although some players did experience some connectivity issues. According to EA, their Battlefield 3 servers uptime eventually stabilized to roughly 98.9% throughout the weekend. However, the company did say that it is “listening to consumer feedback and is making daily updates and improvements to ensure an optimal online experience for all.”
