BioWare Working on New MMO

July 19, 2007 by Sara

Well, it’s official: BioWare is entering the massively multiplayer online game arena, and its game will be created using Perpetual Entertainment’s online technology platform.
BioWare’s first MMO is being created by the company’s Austin studio, which has licensed the right to use Perpetual’s technology to for online game operations, deployment, infrastructure development and community support. All told, the software will allow BioWare to incorporate tools for player management, billing, customer relationship management, game-feature extension, load balancing, lobby servicing, patching and community management.
Unfortunately, no details about the game itself were revealed, other than the generic reference to the project being part of “the next generation of online games.” Does that mean it’s headed to Windows years down the road? Not necessarily. With the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 both capable of supporting MMO games, it could very well be for any non-Nintendo system out there.
With any luck, more details will emerge sooner rather than later.
