BioWare today announced that Mass Effect for PC will have an entirely new Tactical Heads-Up Display (HUD) when it ships in May. The tactical HUD for Mass Effect is designed to give PC gamers a bit more immediate control of their squad, a logical change for a game newly targeted to the PC market.
The new HUD allows players to access the Individual Squad Command, Biotics powers and Abilities and Weapons command interfaces all in one screen. The new HUD can be accessed simply by pressing the space bar.
In addition to giving easy access to these commands, the new Tactical HUD makes it easy to execute these commands quickly and hop right back into the action.
Originally released for the Xbox 360 in November 2007, Mass Effect is a sci-fi role-playing game in which players take the role of Commander Shepard, the first human member of an elite military squad. Mass Effect features real-time, squad-based combat, allowing players to issue specific orders to each individual squad member via the new Tactical HUD. Players can order squad members to take up key positions in combat, switch weapons or unleash deadly Biotic powers.
