New High-Res RAGE Screenshots from QuakeCon

August 1, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

Fresh out of QuakeCon, id Software has released two high-resolution screenshots for RAGE, its upcoming horror/shooter/racer that will be published by Electronic Arts.

RAGE uses an evolved graphics engine from the company that brought you the DOOM series, as evidenced by these very DOOM-like screens. What these screens don’t show, however, is the diversity of environments in RAGE.

In its DOOM games, id Software took flak for only being able to create good graphics indoors. When we were at E3 and saw the game in action at EA’s event, however, this new game engine showed an incredible ability to render this same amount of detail in expansive outdoor levels as well.

But that’s neither here nor there. You’re here for the screens. And we’re here to deliver. You can click on their of these screenshots to see it in super-high resolution.
