Today at GDC, Microsoft officially announced that Gears of War 2 is in development for the Xbox 360. Not only that, but Gears of War 2 will ship this November. In addition, the company announced that Fable 2 will have dynamic cooperative gameplay.
Closing Microsoft’s GDC keynote address, Epic’s lead designer Cliff Bleszinski (Cliffy B) announced on stage that the saga of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad will continue exclusively on Xbox 360 this fall. Gears of War 2 was not announced for PC.
The cooperative elements in Fable 2 will obviously be a first for the franchise.
Molyneux also announced that later this year — and before the launch of Fable 2 — the Fable 2 “pub games” will debut as a stand-alone download on Xbox Live Arcade. These little games will let players accumulate in-game credits, which gamers will be able to transfer currency directly to their character when Fable 2 launches.
Fable 2 will launch for Xbox 360 later in 2008, although Microsoft did not specify a specific month or date.
