Xbox 360 gamers were hoping, waiting, counting on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots coming to the Xbox 360. Never happened. And based on Konami’s announcement at E3 2009, it probably never will. However, Konami is giving Xbox 360 gamers something completely new and fresh in MGS series: a brand new game entirely.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising is currently in development for the Xbox 360, Konami has confirmed, the first Metal Gear Solid game to launch on Xbox 360. In the game, Raiden will be the star in an all-new storyline and action game. Few details about Hideo Kojima’s next game are available at this point — not even a potential release date was announced.
Still, being able to play as Raiden, who last appeared as a non-playable cyborg in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, will be tantalizing to MGS fans regardless. And how about this little hint of online multiplayer:
“With Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Xbox 360 community will finally get a chance to enjoy the action and excitement that this popular franchise is known to offer,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.
Sure, Crotus could simply be talking about the generic “community” of Xbox 360 owners. But our money’s on Metal Gear Solid: Rising including some significant multiplayer gameplay via the Xbox Live “community.”
We will bring you more details as they surface.
