A new real-time strategy game is coming to the Xbox 360, courtesy of Sega. Called Universe at War: Earth Assault, the game was previously a PC-only title. The PC version will still ship this holiday season; the Xbox 360 version will ship in Q1 2008.
Developed by Petroglyph, this combat-intensive real-time-strategy game takes place in a near-future Earth under siege by aliens and will feature a persistent world in which players may revisit previous battlegrounds only to find them still smoldering in ruins.
As in the PC version, weaponry and defenses can be modified in true real-time to take advantage of constantly shifting battlefield conditions. Fully customizable tech trees will allow players to control the development of technologies that are key to victory, with deadly sci-fi weapons and alien powers allowing players to destroy cities and whole territories on a global scale.
The game’s multiplayer modes have been inspired by MMOs and competitive online titles, as players from around the world will experience battles in persistent-style online campaigns for ultimate faction supremacy across a virtual representation of the Earth.
