Sega today announced a new PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game from the creator of the Devil May Cry series. Called Bayonetta, the action game is slated to ship in 2009.
Details are scarce at this point, although we know Bayonetta is part of a four-game partnership Sega has signed with PlatinumGames Inc. The other games included in this agreement are MADWORLD, a Wii-exclusive game, and Infinite Line, for the DS. The fourth game will be revealed at a later date.
Since it’s coming from Hideki Kamiya, the creator of the Devil May Cry series, it should be no surprise that Bayonetta will be a stylish and cinematic action game. The plot will revolve around Bayonetta, a witch with powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals. Bayonetta will face off against angelic enemies, many reaching epic proportions, unleashing outlandish finishing moves all along the way.
The over-the-top action will take place in a wide variety of stages, but Sega was reticent to share too much information. As more details become available, we will share the news.
