NEWBURYPORT, Mass., Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Muzzy Lane Software announced today that it has released an extensive update to its WWII grand strategy game Making History II: The War of the World. The game, originally released in 2010, has undergone a complete graphical makeover of the world map. In response to fans, the AI in the game has been improved, offering new challenges to longtime players. The multiplayer service has been streamlined as well, allowing players to more easily set up, find, and enter games. Perhaps the largest addition is a completely new late-war scenario: The Grand Finale, which allows players to control one of the allied nations and take back Europe and the South Pacific, or as an axis power trying to survive against all odds.
“It may seem unusual to release such a large update and new content this long after a game’s release,” said product manager Chris Parsons, “But we’ve always treated our game development as a process. For example, our fans can choose to play updates like these while they are still in development.” This process of including the Making History community to give feedback before, during and after a release not only improves the outcome but also helps Muzzy Lane plan what comes next.
“Games like these have a lot of moving parts,” says Parsons, “The complexity and thoughtfulness required to succeed is what attracts players who enjoy strategy games. Involving our fans throughout development really gives them an investment in the game.”
Muzzy Lane’s strategy is clearly paying off, as a steady stream of new players continue to buy Making History II through digital distributors like Steam, Amazon, Gamer’s Gate, Matrix Games and the Mac App Store, as well as on http://making-history.com . The company expects the new content will help keep fans busy until their WWI game The Great War launches later this year, the centennial of the actual “war to end all wars”.
Players will be prompted to update the next time they play. New players will receive the update and new content automatically.
