With next-gen fever now hitting its stride as we near the May 21 "Xbox 720" unveiling and continue to receive PS4 news from Sony, Bethesda Softworks today unveiled a new Wolfenstein game, Wolfenstein: The New Order, for both the PlayStation 4 and "Xbox 720 / Durango." The game will also release for the current-gen PS3 and Xbox 360. Wolfenstein: The New Order, an action-adventure shooter as you'd expect from the series, is slated to release in Q4 -- presumably as a launch title for both next-gen consoles. The game is … [Read more...]

Ubisoft Confirms Watch_Dogs Release Date, Availability for “Xbox 720”
We now know the release date for Watch_Dogs (or "Watch Dogs" for those who don't like fancy naming conventions), as well as its development status for the "Xbox 720." The game's availability for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) was already known, as the game made its debut at Sony's PS4 unveiling event. Watch_Dogs will be available in North America on November 19 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. Ubisoft didn't specify a specific date for its PS4 launch, just that it would be available "at the launch of the PlayStation 4." The … [Read more...]

The new The Evil Within trailer definitely warrants the age gate below, as it's fittingly intense and bound to spook some people. But of course, that's what Bethesda hopes to achieve. Bethesda Unveils The Evil Within, a PS4 & ‘Xbox 720’ Survival-Horror Game
Bethesda Softworks today took the wraps off The Evil Within, a new survival-horror game from Shinji Mikami, but the biggest news may not be the studio's partnership with "the father of the survival horror genre," but the fact that The Evil Within is being developed for the PS4 and the next-generation Xbox, aka "Durango" or the "Xbox 720." According to Bethesda's announcement, the game is also in development for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Mikami is best known as the creator of the Resident Evil series, so hearing of a new … [Read more...]

EA CEO Resigns; Is No Longer “In The Game”
EA may be known for the phrase "it's in the game," but the game publisher's CEO is no longer living that motto. Larry Probst, taking the temporary position of Executive Chairman, will take over on an interim basis and lead the search for a new CEO. No specific reason was provided publicly for Riccitiello's resignation, although the company's fourth-quarter revenues and earnings per share … [Read more...]
PS4 System Specs: It’s a Beefy Machine
For all the hubbub about social games and the lack of needing more horsepower in the next console generation, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 last night with more horsepower than Budweiser's Clydesdale carriage. Nintendo certainly upgraded the Wii U compared to the original Wii, but that was largely an HD and processing necessity. Sony's upgrades for the PS4, though, seem at first unnecessary but show that the PS4 will have a nice, long shelf life. The PlayStation 4 is built around a custom chip that contains eight … [Read more...]
Quick Reactions to Sony’s PlayStation 4 Unveiling Event
So much for the next generation of consoles not being about horsepower. For all the speculation about whether the next PlayStation or Xbox would focus strictly on social gaming, gesture-based controls and casual titles, skipping the beefy processing and graphical specs that have carried us for the past two outings, Sony promptly kicked the speculators in the teeth while unveiling the PlayStation 4. The PS4 is a behemoth of technical specs, a more-powerful system than gamers have ever seen. And while the PS4 certainly … [Read more...]
