Apple Q3 iPad Sales Show Game Consoles are Still Fringe

October 21, 2014 by Shilpa

PS4 vs. Xbox One

Have you ever felt like you're yelling into the wind? You have if you've been involved in any "flame war" related to PS4 vs Xbox One sales or the consoles' technical specs. The yelling is always overblown, and the disagreement is universally pointless. And never has that pointlessness been so evident than in investors' sentiment over Apple Q3 iPad sales. The Cupertino company reported Apple Q3 iPad sales in the 12 million unit range, while consumers bought approximately 39 million iPhones. Those totals led to … [Read more...]

Far Cry 4 Season Pass to Include New PvP Mode

October 20, 2014 by Sara

Far Cry 4

Ubisoft has shed light on the pricing and downloadable add-on content for the Far Cry 4 Season Pass, including information about a new player-versus-player (PvP) multiplayer mode. The Far Cry 4 Season Pass will include several new missions that can be played either individually or in co-op mode. That also means the content will be eligible for the Keys to Kyrat mode on PS4, which allows owners of the game to "share" the game for an hour with a friend to play through missions, even if that person doesn't own Far Cry 4 … [Read more...]

Assassin’s Creed Producer Leaves Ubisoft

October 20, 2014 by Sara

Assassins Creed Unity

One of Ubisoft's most public faces, Jade Raymond, has left the company after 10 years. According to a statement from Ubisoft, Raymond and Ubisoft have "agreed to pursue future opportunities separately." Raymond's departure from Ubisoft comes at an interesting but logical time, as Assassin's Creed Unity is wrapping up production and will ship soon for PS4 and Xbox One. Such departures aren't new to the industry, so hearing that the Assassin's Creed producer leaves Ubisoft doesn't mean the franchise is or will be in … [Read more...]

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Ships for Xbox 360, PS3

October 14, 2014 by Sara

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

You've heard of prequels and sequels, but a "pre sequel"? The way 2K has positioned Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, the title makes sense. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes place between the stories of the first two games in the franchise. Apparently "1.5" didn't make sense; these aren't the days of Naked Gun 33 1/3. Although Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes place between the first and second Borderlands titles, the new open-world game is a completely stand-alone title. n Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, fans can play as … [Read more...]

Destiny Review (Xbox One)

October 8, 2014 by Sara

Destiny screenshot

It's unfair to judge a game's ability to live up to the hype, so I'll go to great lengths in this Destiny review to not fall into that trap. Destiny is Bungie's first non-Halo game since the launch of the first Xbox. It's a new franchise Activision committed to supporting well into the next decade. And it's Bungie's first multiplatform title since dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Expectations were predictably sky high. But let's put those aside for a moment and judge the game based on its merits alone. Destiny is fun but … [Read more...]

Now Entering the Ring: DIGIMON All-Star Rumble Digicards

October 7, 2014 by Sara

Xbox 360

Bandai Namco knows its fanbase. How else can you explain the addition of DIGIMON All-Star Rumble Digicards to the upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 game? Although the DIGIMON All-Star Rumble is a video game rather than a tabletop game, the addition of cards is a homage to all things real-world. Digicards add a unique aspect to the fighting gameplay with offensive and defensive Digicards that can throw the momentum of battle. For instance, some of the Digicards let players unleash new effects such as explosions and … [Read more...]

Dragon Age Inquisition Multiplayer Getting Four-Player Co-Op

October 7, 2014 by Sara

Dragon Age: Inquisition

One of the biggest draws of The Elder Scrolls series is its massive scope, but its biggest drawback on a console has so far been its lack of multiplayer support. Its nearest competitors in this console generation appear to be The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, with BioWare announcing some Dragon Age Inquisition news that will make all fantasy RPG fans gleeful: Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer will be a four-player affair. Having co-op dungeon crawling is one thing, but having it available as part of the … [Read more...]

October 2, 2014 by Sara

PlayStation 3 PS3

The video game based on the popular TNT sci-fi drama Falling Skies is now available at retail for Xbox 360 and PS3, with a digital version available for download on Wii U. Falling Skies The Game is a turn-based, tactical role-playing game set between the TV show's third and fourth seasons. So, while the TV show is action oriented, be aware that Falling Skies The Game is more slowly paced. Considering its timing in the show's narrative, Falling Skies The Game picks up after the destruction of the Espheni's Boston … [Read more...]
