Torchlight started its life as a Windows PC game, but after selling more than 800,000 units, Runic and Microsoft Game Studios decided to launch an Xbox Live Arcade version to bring the PC phenom to the console crowd. In the Xbox 360 version of Torchlight, combat is more exciting with revamped controls and mechanics, new armor and quests. There’s even an exclusive new pet for your character, and you can send a goodie or two to your friends on Xbox LIVE to share the fun — a first for the series.
Oh, you didn’t know much about Torchlight? Here’s the skinny. The adventure is set in the mining settlement of Torchlight, a boomtown founded on the discovery of rich veins of Ember, a rare and mysterious ore with the power to enchant or corrupt all that it contacts. Yet this corruptive power has dire consequences, and players set out into the nearby mountains and depths below to discover the full extent of Ember’s influence on the civilizations that have come before. Players choose from among three character classes and venture from the safety of the town of Torchlight into randomly generated dungeon levels, with a huge variety of monsters, endless variations of loot and quests. The randomization ensures a long-lived gameplay experience.
