Cable manufacturer Atlona is showcasing at CES its line of flat cables that are HDMI 1.3b certified. Flat cables are often considered better than round cables because the conductors are further away from one another, thus reducing the “crosstalk,” and are often more flexible. Having Atlona’s cables HDMI 1.3b certified means there’s now no excuse for not owning a set.
General HDMI specs require enough bandwidth to support all current HDTV formats, but HDMI 1.3b increases the bandwidth to 10.2Gbps (340 MHz), technically giving such cables the ability to support higher resolutions, Deep Color and higher frame rates. HDMI 1.3b also provides higher audio quality, as it enables the full support of lossless Dolby TrueHD audio, a feature of most Blu-ray Discs now being released.
