New York, New York – With over half a million Apps currently live in the App Store, it’s hard enough to simply get noticed … nevermind produce a top 25 app. Many of these ‘blockbuster’ apps are developed by well known, experienced developers; most of which are companies with dedicated resources. However, one of the ‘small guys’ is trying to break that mould, and has made a bold run for it with the introduction of Angry Planes to the App Store.
Biagio Iellimo is the founder of BAM Entertainment LLC, the new developer of this full feature 2D action/strategy game. An accountant living and working in the craziness of New York City’s financial world, Biagio is BAM’s single employee. When asked about how Angry Planes came to fruition, this is what he had to say, “I’m a complete ‘techy’, and have always been a fan of all things Apple. It’s been my dream to release an app since the day the App Store went live. For the past 18 months, I crunched numbers during the day, anxiously waiting to get home to work on Angry Planes at night. Developing has become my true interest/passion, and I’ve put everything into this app to make a game that is truly unique, interesting, and fun. I am extremely excited about introducing it to the Apple Community!”
Angry Planes brings back the essence of what mobile games were originally all about: simple and addictive with that pick-up and play ability so you can fully enjoy the game whether you have 30 seconds or 30 hours to spare. Version 1.0 features 90 levels that progressively unlock, and combined with a ‘3 Star’ rating system, A.P. provides high replay value and countless hours of gameplay.
To pass each level, users must drop bombs from their Angry Plane onto swimming squid below, bombing a designated number of squid before time and bombs run out. To make things challenging, there are color-changing squid that require multiple hits to kill, they swim in different speeds/patterns on every level, and obstacles in the water provide the squid ample bomb cover and hiding spots.
The controls are simple and intuitive – left/right arrows at the bottom of the screen make the plane speed up/slow down as it continuously flies from side to side. A single red bomb button completes the controls, dropping one bomb with each tap. Timing becomes the name of the game, as users cannot change the direction of their plane on demand. If they fly past the squid below, they must get to the end of the screen in order to turn around. The combination of timing the plane’s speed with dropping bombs onto moving targets below can be what Biagio describes as the “most gratifying or frustrating fun you’ll ever have…either way you’ll be hooked to this app quickly!”.
Angry Planes’ graphics are polished and gameplay is extremely smooth. There are different planes to choose from, as well as bonus characters such as submarines and sharks, which have special features that enhance gameplay. It’s Game Center enabled, and users can compete on multiple online leaderboards to see who can eliminate the most squid.
