Red Bud, Illinois – Indie developer Cody Frederick today is pleased to introduce Get Gabbin’ 1.0 for iOS, his new entertainment app designed to get an interesting conversation started between friends, family, or brand new acquaintances. The app, which is appropriate for nearly everyone, eliminates the two major roadblocks that stand in the way of conversation: getting started and finding a topic. As an app, initiating a conversation is framed as a kind of game that the user invites others to play, and Get Gabbin’ then supplies 250+ topics. Ideal for breaking the ice or as a catalyst to enhance ordinary conversation, Get Gabbin’ helps people of all ages have more fun talking.
Feature Highlights:
* Easily start a conversation anytime, anywhere
* 3 Categories of question topics: Family, General, or Would You Rather
* 250+ questions built-in
* Free updates with additional Categories
* An ideal game for families
On launch in portrait or landscape orientation, users have a choice of three built-in, question Categories: Family, General, or Would You Rather. Each question is numbered, e.g., 14 of 87, and users can easily drag left or right to go forward or backward via a push transition. New Category suggestions can be submitted through the Settings panel; additional Categories under development include: Date Night, Actions (where people have to act out answers), and Truth-or-Dare. All app updates are free for life, and there are no ads or in-app purchases.
Great for the following:
* Dinner time
* Flying
* Road trips
* Date night
* Bonfires
* Waiting in the theater
* Restaurants
We are social beings, and we thrive in groups. There is nothing more natural, spontaneous, or effortless as engaging in conversation. But sometimes Nature needs a bit of help. Get Gabbin’ gets the ball rolling, and overcomes all the uncertainty and awkwardness that can act as an impediment to casual communication.
The age of smart devices has increased the amount of communication daily, but it has done little to improve its quality. In fact, social science pundits suggest that we may be witnessing the death of the art of conversation, as young people sit around a table, each glued to their iPhone screen. Get Gabbin’ can help act as force to help restore natural, live, interactive communication through conversation, and it uses to its advantage the ever-present smart device in doing it.
“During family get-togethers I would sit at the kids’ table and ask each of them an odd question to see how they would answer,” said developer Cody Frederick. “Each time we played, it turned into an all out laugh-fest, and the next time we’d get together the kids would beg me to play the game during dinner time. I thought to myself that I could write an iPhone app that would let more families enjoy this time as much as we did.”
