i-Free Innovations, and Creat Studios, a successful PlayStation Network game developer, today released an iPhone version and an Online Multiplayer Update for the iPad version of the Mushroom Wars RTS. Originally released for PlayStation Network by Creat Studios in 2009, Mushroom Wars quickly became one of all-time top 25 games for the platform, according to IGN. The January 2013 release for iPad quickly rose to the top of the strategy game charts, and this latest update brings Online Multiplayer Battles, iOS 5.1.1 support, and other new features to mobile gamers around the world. The iPhone version, Mushroom Wars Mini, was created to meet the demand for a more compact implementation for smaller devices.
Mushroom Wars’ story-driven, fast-paced real-time strategy and iconic visual style epitomize arcade skirmish gameplay. The new multiplayer battles enable players to participate in online conflicts with two, three or four opponents. Users can choose from three types of mission: conquer all opponents; possess key points; score a pre-defined number of points. Multiplayer mode is available on five well-balanced maps at release, and other maps will be added to bring the total number to 17 over the coming months.
Opponents are automatically selected in the online version of Mushroom Wars online mode according to their world ranking, which is calculated based on the number of wins. Players can compare their results with their friends – and those of any player in the world. The winner gains not only rating points, but also qualifies for bonuses like ratings boosters or the lifting of restrictions in subsequent battles. There are five new single player missions, and a news section keeps players updated on the latest game info. New in-game challenges offer players the opportunity to gain over 200 GameCenter points.
