We’ve espoused the survival-horror glories of The Evil Within since Bethesda debuted the game at E3 2013. Since then the game keeps looking better and better, and by all accounts it will sound better and better too.
Betehsda has unveiled The Evil Within voice cast, and it’s a doozy. With actors from Dexter, Watchmen and Hell on Wheels, among other programs, there’s a hefty dose of high-quality voice talent signed up for The Evil Within.
The Evil Within is being developed by legendary game designer Shinji Mikami. Due October 14, the game is a pure survival-horror title with meticulously detailed environments and scripted events that’ll take your anxiety to monumental heights.
Not unlike the original Dead Space, The Evil Within gives players very limited resources as they fight for survival in a game that blends horror and action.
“One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and authenticity of the voice acting,” said Mikami. “We brought together a great cast of experienced actors to help ensure that players really believe our characters’ emotions and the tension they feel in every scene.”
The Evil Within voice cast includes Academy-Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley (“Lincoln,” “Watchmen” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street”), Screen Actors Guild-Award nominee Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter,” “Quarantine” and “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), and film and television star Anson Mount (“Hell on Wheels” and “Safe”).
Haley recently played Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. In The Evil Within he’ll voice the main antagonist, Ruvik. Mount, meanwhile, will provide the voiceovers for lead protagonist Sebastian Castellanos.
Rounding out the cast is Carpenter, best known for her role as Debra Morgan in Dexter. Carpenter plays Juli Kidman, Sebastian’s Junior Detective partner.

In The Evil Within, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners are called in to investigate a gruesome mass murder. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.
