The Forza Motorsport franchise seems to be going back to its roots for the debut of the Xbox One console. Last year’s Forza Horizon was fantastic, but it focused a bit more on the arcade fun of open-world driving than it did the fine-tuned mastery that the series had been known for. That’s changing in Forza 5, as evidenced by the list of Forza Motorsport 5 Audi cars available on Day One with the console’s (and game’s) launch.
In a new Forza 5 video documentary, Microsoft gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the collaboration between the Forza 5 development team and Audi’s reigning FIA World Endurance Championship racing team. The developers visited the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans race at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France to watch the Audi Sport Team Joest prepare to defend its 2012 title.
The video features interviews with drivers from Audi Sport Team Joest, which is all fine and dandy, but the bigger news for prospective Xbox One owners who are more into videogame racing than real-world racing is the of Forza Motorsport 5 Audi lineup that was revealed alongside the video.
Forza 5 players will get to virtually drive the 2012 Audi #1 Audi Sport Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro, what Microsoft and Audi claim is “the world’s most dominant endurance racecar design.” In addition to the R18 e-tron quattro, the Forza Motorsport 5 Audi lineup includes:
- 1983 Sport quattro
- 2006 #2 Audi Sport North America R8
- 2006 RS 4
- 2010 R8 Coupé 5.2 FSI quattro
- 2010 TT RS Coupe
- 2011 RS 3 Sportback
- 2011 RS 5 Coupe
- 2012 #1 Audi Sport Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro
- 2013 S4
- 2013 R8 Coupe V10 plus 5.2 FSI quattro
- 2013 RS 7 Sportback
You can pre-order Forza Motorsport 5 now, but it won’t ship until Nov. 22 alongside the Xbox One. As you likely already know, Forza 5 is an Xbox One exclusive.
