The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sat atop millions of gamers’ wish list for a year or more now, especially among gamers who own a PS4 and/or Xbox One. With E3 2014 about to get underway, we know now the official The Witcher 3 release date for PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC. And it’s less than a year away.
CD Projekt RED has confirmed The Witcher 3 release date for PS4 and Xbox One as Feb. 24, 2015. The original The Witcher 3 release date was slated for 2014, a date that already seemed far away considering the outstanding showing the game made at E3 2013. The Witcher 3 release date was initially delayed in March, with the developers saying it would release in early 2015. The logic, as always, was to give the developers extra time to give the game an extra level of polish and tweak some gameplay elements.
At the time, the developers said “We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned. Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. … [W]e believe the game will prove to be worth the wait and meet the expectations you have of us. We believe The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be an exceptional RPG, one of the best, providing many hours of wonderful entertainment.”
Considering the worthy hype for The Witcher 3 coming out of E3 last year, it only makes sense to learn of the official The Witcher 3 release date for PS4 and Xbox One as we head into E3 2014. Not only that, we now have details about two different The Witcher 3 collector’s editions.
First up is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt box. In this special edition you’ll find:
- A Blu-ray Disc with the game (DVDs on PC)
- An exclusive CD with the official soundtrack
- The official, developer-created “Witcher Universe – The Compendium”
- A detailed map of the in-game world
- A set of unique stickers
- A stylish, protective sleeve
The more-impressive of the two editions, though, is The Wild Hunt Collector’s Edition. This beast of a package includes what CD Projekt RED is calling “the most artistically complete game figure ever made for a collector’s edition of a game.” The Witcher 3 Collector’s Edition includes:
- All the contents from the standard edition of the game
- A giant, 33x24x26 cm (10-inch), 100% hand painted, Polystone figure of Geralt of Rivia battling a Griffin
- An exquisite, collector-grade Witcher medallion
- A one-of-a-kind SteelBook box
- A 200-page artbook of art from the game
- Huge outer and inner Collector’s Boxes in which you can store your Witcher merchandise
