A 3D version of Titanic is coming to theaters in April 2012, paving the way for an eventual Blu-ray 3D release and making the Leonardo DiCaprio flick pad its already-huge lifetime sales results of more than $600 million in the United States and $1.2 billion worldwide.
Paramount today announced the Titanic 3D release date of April 6, 2012, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s voyage.
“There’s a whole generation that’s never seen Titanic as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘Titanic’ as you’ve never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D,” Cameron was quoted as saying at the CNN Marquee blog. “With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike.”
