Gefen today announced a new USB-to-DVI Graphics Adapter that lets computer owners connect additional displays to their Windows XP, Windows Vista or Mac OS X system.
This tiny adapter allows a plug-and-play connection of a DVI or VGA display to any USB 2.0 port, letting users add digital video displays or projectors to a laptop and/or personal computer for simultaneous video delivery without needing a DVI port. Output video is delivered in the DVI-I format, allowing for either VGA or DVI display compatibility.
The Gefen USB to DVI Graphics Adapter, which costs $129, lets users tweak their video performance, including screen resolutions up to 1600×1200. Users also have the option of having the USB-connected display mirror the main display, or extend the desktop to provide increased visibility and the ability to view several applications at the same time in a multiple display situation.
Gefen’s internal testing has shown that up to six USB to DVI Graphics Adapters can be connected to any one personal computer with a reliable delivery of video to all six displays.
