HD-DVD apparently really isn’t dead. Warner Bros. today announced plans to release Twister: Special Edition on Blu-ray and HD-DVD. The Twister: Special Edition will be a two-disk set on DVD, but a one-disk goodie on Blu-ray. Those versions will ship in early May, followed by an HD-DVD version three weeks later.
Twister was the first movie ever released on DVD, so it’s no surprise that the picture and audio have both been digitally remastered. The film will be released simultaneously on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on May 6, while its HD-DVD counterpart will appear on May 27.
Twister Two-Disc Special Edition will be available for $20.97 on DVD. The HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions will sell for $28.99.
The DVD special features — all of which will be included on a single Blu-ray and HD-DVD disk — will be comprised of the following:
- Disc 1
- Commentary by Jan DeBont and Stefan Fangmeier
- Theatrical Trailers
- Disc 2
- Chasing the Storm: Twister Revisited
- The Making of Twister [HBO First Look Special]
- Anatomy of a Twister
- Nature Tech: Tornadoes [2003 History Channel special]
- Van Halen Humans Being Music Video
