In 2014, Google played an April fool’s Day joke on everybody with a twist. Instead of tricking us into thinking they were releasing a new type of service (Google Nose anyone?) they had a nifty little update to their Maps app instead. With it, you could scroll through the real world and find Pokémon hidden in and around the major cities of the world, near landmarks and other sites. Pretty cool, right? Training hard to be the master once more Now, Nintendo has gone a step further. Recently, they announced that they would … [Read more...]

Nintendo Announces its First Free-to-Play Game

June 13, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

It's news that may have been overlooked by many gamers this week, but Nintendo announcing its first free-to-play game is worth reiterating in light of all the success and buzz the PS4 and Xbox One have had at E3. Nintendo's first free-to-play game will arrive by March 2014. The March 2014 date isn't arbitrary; it's the end of the game maker's current fiscal year. Unfortunately, it wasn't clear whether the "by March 2014" reference means the free game will appear this holiday season -- which would make sense in light … [Read more...]

November 11, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

Nintendo 3DS Logo

In spite of what were originally labeled "lackluster" sales of the Nintendo 3DS, the company that Miyamoto built today announced that the first-year sales of the 3DS are actually slated to exceed the first-year sales of the original Nintendo DS. The sales data comes in spite of the higher price point of the 3DS handheld and mixed reviews about the actual visual "convenience" or ease of playing games on a glasses-free 3D screen. In its eighth month on the market, the Nintendo 3DS system crossed 1.65 million units … [Read more...]
