The latest opportunity for gamers to see female fighters “kick high,” Dead or Alive Dimensions, has begun shipping to retail for the Nintendo 3DS. Developed by Team Ninja, the game transports players to new interactive locales and offers the fast-paced combat that the fighting-game series is known for.
In Dead or Alive Dimensions, players can compete as one of 25 playable characters and inflict heavy damage on interactive stages as well as their foes. Classic characters like Kasumi and Ayane, along with more recent personas such as Eliot and Hitomi, come together to retell the saga of the franchise in full 3D.
Through the game’s Chronicle, mode, one of 12 total game modes available, players journey to reveal certain characters’ pasts and learn how each of the characters relate to one another. Players can also participate in the multiplayer Throwdown Mode, which will let them unlock special character figurines as they compete with the profiles of other fighters they encounter via StreetPass.
Dead or Alive Dimensions also has a special stage inspired by Metroid: Other M, where Ridley will wreak havoc on all fighters. Another addition to gameplay on Nintendo 3DS is the use of the Touch Screen, which shows players the combination attacks that they can either master or tap to unleash on opponents.
