Tecmo’s Team Ninja today shipped Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword for the Nintendo DS. The title is the first handheld installment in the popular Ninja Gaiden series.
In Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, players will fight enemy ninjas and battle various fiends while taking on the role of Master Ninja Ryu Hayabusa and uncovering all the mysteries of Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword’s brand new storyline.
The player maneuvers Ryu and Momiji, the game’s other main character, to fight against the Black Spider Clan and the demons that lurk behind them. The story is organized into chapters, and as you solve the riddles posed at every turn, you get closer to the core of the story.
Since Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword is a DS game, it goes without saying that Tecmo has included DS-only control mechanics. Holding the DS with one hand like a book, players can view a wider range of scenes, including battle areas, maps and comic-book-style cut scenes. Using the DS stylus, players can smoothly maneuver and fight through levels by sliding, tapping and moving up/down. Casting Ninpo (Ninja Magic), meanwhile, is done by players drawing the appropriate symbol to quickly execute numerous types of Ninpo.
