Nintendo may not be seen as a “hardcore gamer’s” manufacturer, but the company definitely finds ways to instill a few snippets of “hardcore” functionality in its systems. Today, the company launched new Facebook Connect software for its Nintendo DSi handheld that allows Nintendo DSi owners to take photos using the DSi camera and upload them directly to their Facebook profile.
A WiFi connection is required, obviously.
The new Nintendo DSi Facebook functionality will be available after 5 pm PST today via a free downloadable system update.
When viewing pictures they’ve stored in their Nintendo DSi Camera album, DSi owners will be able to tap the Facebook icon on the system’s touch screen to instantly transmit photos to their Facebook profile.
Prepare to see a whole host of wacky-looking Facebook profile photos at 5:02 PST today….
