Jeff Gordon is a NASCAR icon, one of NASCAR’s most celebrated drivers with a 6th-place ranking all-time in Cup Series wins (with 81) and a four-time Sprint Cup Series champion. Now he’s chalking up another title, that of EA Sports cover athlete.
EA Sports today announced that Jeff Gordon will be the cover athlete for NASCAR 09, which ships for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation 2 (PS2) on June 10.
Jeff Gordon’s reputation aligns with the new NASCAR 09 career mode, called “Sprint for the Cup.” As part of this mode, Gordon will act as a guide and mentor to help players build their own reputation to become the next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion.
NASCAR 09 will also include a completely rebuilt handling model, making it more accessible to NASCAR series newcomers.
“It’s exciting being on the cover of NASCAR 09,” said Gordon. “The game is as real as it gets, and it’s been great being involved with it on this level.”
