Assassin’s Creed 2 is on the way for Xbox 360 and PS3, Ubisoft has announced, but Altair will not be making a second appearance. The game, starring a new protagonist, is scheduled to ship for both consoles this holiday season.
Assassin’s Creed 2 has been in development for more than two years, although the original game released not quite two years ago. The PS3 and Xbox 360 game, like the original, will take place in an open-world environment, but it will star a young Renaissance nobleman named Ezio, who has been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy.
Ezio’s quest for revenge in Assassin’s Creed 2 will take players into a story that provides more mission variety (a good move), new gameplay elements, more-diverse weapons and more-distinct character progression.
“We’ve made improvements to every aspect of the game,” said Patrice Desilets, creative director at Ubisoft. “We’ve plunged ourselves into the stunning history of the Italian Renaissance so that we can offer fans a unique, varied and innovative Assassin’s Creed experience.”
Additional details about Assassin’s Creed 2 can be found in the May issue of Game Informer.
